Eastern Almeria has at present six golf courses and all within
easy driving distance from Bedar. The closest of these is Valle de
Este which is just 10 minutes away. The course is about 8 years old
and offers some challenging holes. It is an interesting and varied
course. Cortijo Grande is the oldest course in the area and is a
nine holes in the shadow of the Cabrera mountains. The newest course
is Macenas Golf just outside Mojacar on the road to Carboneras.
Marina Golf on Mojacar Playa offer a good course with great sea
views. Desert Springs close to the historic town of Cuevas del
Almanzora and is Europe's only desert course. And about 40 minute
drive away in San Juan de los Tererros is the new course of situated
in the mountains over looking the resort. So plenty of opportunities
to stretch your legs and practice your swing.
There are several different beaches along Mojacar Playa some wide with plenty of sand other a little more rocky.
You will find plenty of chiringuitos (beach bars) along the beaches
offer cold drinks, lunches and diner. These do get very busy during
lunch time but are a perfect place to find some shade and enjoy some
fresh seafood. Be warned paella take a little while to to cook so
get your order in early. Just a short drive out of Mojacar you will find some more remote
beaches such Playa El Sombrerico with itīs wide sandy beach. A half hour drive will take you to the Cabo de Gata Parque Natural (national park)
a particularly beautiful area with many secluded beaches and small
fishing villages. A trip to Agua Amarga is a great way to spend a
day with it's sheltered bay and chirinquitos a very pleasant place.
